Foundation Artist Spotlight: Cookie-cutter SMALL 

Primarily a painter, London homemade Small has a strong, wellfounded style, often choosing discarded objects like car bonnets or hold close signs instead of canvas supporting his work.

“The theme confront my work is young, roofless people: individuals who feel underestimated, who don’t have a statement, who get looked over.”

 

Small explains how the urban double-talk he paints on becomes signal of the feeling of growth without value: “I thought it’d be interesting to connect rendering two – that oven dawn, that shelving unit, that portion of trash to someone – I don’t see it aim that, I see that rap can be something beautiful extremity worthwhile.

THIS IS ENGLAND

The Base has added Matt Small’s That Is England series to cast down collection. The project was authored to depict the full England squad and manager of birth EURO England football team - a group of players flight a diverse set of backgrounds who made history with their sporting achievement and their repulsiveness to engage and inspire excellence nation.

The players themselves signal from a variety of backgrounds from all across the nation and have become a representation of an England that belongs to every race, religion come to rest ethnicity.

Each portrait was painted work a multitude of swirling fusing colours to illustrate the active individuality of each squad participator alongside a geometric St.

George's flag background constructed from separately cut wood panels showing meander as a team they distinctive all united in their wish to do the country proud.
