Joe Pass died on May 23, 1994. In a Guitar Participant tribute, writer Jim Ferguson summed up Pass's career as pure guitarist: "Bebop, Latin, ballads, gloominess, originals, solos, duos, trios, gigantic ensembles--Joe did it all.
